En écho à l’exposition Les Maîtres du désordre, un set live autour du thème de la fête, à partir du fonds d’archives sonores et d’enregistrements du musée.

Toujours une saison en avance, That Summer célébrera le sacre du printemps le mercredi 28 mars prochain en donnant, à Petit Bain , son premier concert parisien depuis des lustres – à quelques encablures de cette Guinguette Pirate où, en 2005, le groupe fit ses premiers pas sur scène (avant de faire tomber les clés de sa voiture dans la Seine). Nous en sommes d’autant plus contents que nous partagerons l’affiche avec deux excellents groupes, Prinzhorn Dance School et nos amis de NLF3.
Pour ce concert, nous pouvons vous faire profiter de places à tarif réduit (10 euros) : il vous suffit de nous écrire, en précisant votre nom et le nombre de places souhaité, vous n’aurez ensuite plus qu’à retirer celles-ci au guichet le soir même… We’re happy to announce that we will soon be playing in Paris (on March 28h @ Petit Bain ), together with 2 excellent bands, Prinzhorn Dance School and NLF3. Nos chers et talentueux amis Franck Marguin & Geoffroy Montel, alias le duo Minizza (& les disques Brocoli) viennent de réussir un nouveau tour de force : enregistrer, pour les magnifiques Ateliers de création radiophonique de France Culture, une adaptation musicale d’A rebours, le mythique & décadent chef-d’oeuvre de Joris-Karl Huysmans (1884). Pour cela, ils se sont assurés les services de plusieurs invités, parmi lesquels, outre Rainier Lericolais, Daniel Palomo Vinuesa & Pierre-yves Macé, vos serviteurs au (presque) complet. Le résultat est à écouter ce dimanche 5 juin sur les ondes de France Culture, &/ou à podcaster ultérieurement ici.
Our talented friends Franck & Geoffroy aka Minizza (& Brocoli Records) newly managed a genuine tour de force*: Recording a musical adaptation of A rebours (“Against the Grain”), the famous & decadent novel by Joris-Karl Huysmans (1884), for the Ateliers de création radiophonique, the prestigious radio art programm on France Culture. For that, they invited several musicians, among which Rainier Lericolais, Daniel Palomo Vinuesa, Pierre-Yves Macé… and That Summer… You can listen to the sonic result next Sunday June 5th on France Culture, &/or podcast it here later.

This is great news – supa supa: We’ll be opening for The Chap, a band we simply LOVE, at the next Cap Sonic Festival, organized by Le Manège in Mons (Belgium), and at the end of this Summer.
This exploding night is due to FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th, and you’d better be there

On Alice Rabbit’s blog were recently released the first two volumes of “Le Berrython”. Subtitled “Fragments of the Châteauroux underground (1983-2009)”, this series of compilations documents the rich musical testimony of the numerous artists linked with That Summer’s hometown… On them, you can find early tracks of ours – from the time where That Summer were still called (oh Lord!) Sub Specie Aeternitatis – as well as pieces by Par Les Douceurs du Verger (lo-fi-industrial project of Rainier Lericolais and David Sanson, from the late 80’s)… and also tracks by Rainier Lericolais, Richard Fauguet, Entre Rose, Michel Aubry, Ev Institut, Emmanuel Huynh, Marie-Jeanne Hoffner…
You can download them from free (with their covers, designed by visual artist Richard Fauguet) here and there…

Nous jouerons ce vendredi 20 mai, aux alentours de 22 heures et quelque, au Klub, à Paris, à l’invitation des soirées mignon*, avec également Loïc B.O. et Herr Broken : après ce concert (au cours duquel nous interpréterons des morceaux de Near Miss, Clear, Nine Shrunken Pieces, mais aussi quelques petites surprises), nous vous proposerons également un DJ-set electro-post-bizarre-new wave-etc… See you there!

Notre concert du 25 février dernier au Centre culturel suisse à Paris – avec Rainier Lericolais et Vale Poher – dans le cadre de PLAYS, carte blanche à notre ami Saâdane Afif, a fait l’objet d’une publication cassette (!) en édition très limitée (20 exemplaires). Malgré le prix prohibitif de l’objet (que l’on peut acheter à la librairie du CCS), nous sommes heureux de cette première publication sur un support qui a accompagné tous les débuts de That Summer, comme ceux de bons nombre de groupes nés à la fin des années 1980…
The concert we gave last February 25th at the Centre culturel suisse in Paris – together with Rainier Lericolais and Vale Poher – in the frame of ‘PLAYS’, a carte blanche to French visual artist Saâdane Afif, has now been released as a cassette (!) and a very limited edition (20 copies). Despite the rather prohibitive price of this artefact (that can be purchased @ the CCS’ bookshop), we’re quite happy of this first official release on a format that accompanied the very first steps of That Summer – as for every band born in the late 80’s…

“Le sentiment d’aventure” is the title of the latest work by French visual artist François-Xavier Courrèges – with whom That Summer already collaborated on several projects.
For the soundtrack of this 40 mn long video, recently shown at Zona Maco Mexico (April 6-10, Galerie Sultana, booth # G205), David Sanson recorded a new, 40 mn long (!) version of “Some Stations”, a piano track originally composed for the “On” compilation CD (released by Tony Wakeford in 1996 on Tursa)…
